SYNC 3

Ford owners who are shopping for a new vehicle will be impressed with SYNC® 3 and what it has to offer. Completely redesigned, Ford's latest infotainment and connectivity system offers an updated design and interface, plus new features. SYNC® 3 is available on select 2016 models.

New Features

SYNC® 3 has been updated to ensure that it fits the drivers needs better. For instance, it has improved its recognition of conversational voices for improved accuracy. Faster performance means less waiting time for the actions you command to be implemented. An intuitive touchscreen is more like a smartphone while the interface is easier to understand.

Another new feature for this version is the integration of AppLink with Siri for iPhone fans. Software updates are automatic with the use of Wi-Fi. This ensures that your SYNC® 3 system is always up to date.

Enhanced Interface

While voice commands are still an essential part of the SYNC® 3 operation, more attention has been paid to the touchscreen aspect of the system. Drivers will see a faster response time and more touch options, such as pinch-to-zoom and the ability to swipe the screen. Crisp, clear graphics make the screen easier to read as well.

Large buttons feature fonts with high contrast while the bright background improves visibility on the SYNC® 3. The screen is easier to read in the daytime even with the bright sunlight. A dark background shows up at night to minimize reflections and reduce eye fatigue.

Simplicity is the key to the home screen with three zones: Audio, Phone and Navigation. Quick access is seen in the tray along the bottom to reduce the time it takes to make adjustments. The new version has added elements that are more reminiscent of using the internet or a smartphone. For instance, you can swipe the screen to scroll through the alphabet to find contacts for your phone.

Voice commands are now simpler and easier for the system to understand. SYNC® 3 has been enhanced to better understand how people talk. For instance, they can say "11" instead of "one-one" when looking for directions. It is also not necessary to know the exact name of the location when using navigation as long as the instructions are fairly close.

Innovation

AppLink has been further enhanced in the SYNC® 3 updates. Drivers can control the apps on their iPhone by voice commands or through buttons on the display screen. It is also easier to discover apps from the smartphone such as Pandora and Spotify. AppLink is now faster with an improved response rate while locating apps easier than ever before.

This new version still provides 911 Assist® even without a subscription. The system dials for emergency help in the event of a significant collision and provides important information for location and type of crash. Emergency responders can even find out how many seatbelts were in use.
